Tutorial 1 of 5
Your first notebook in 5 minutes
Beginner 5 min
Add a cell, run a real calculator, read the result, pin a key figure and find it again in the report. No account, nothing to install.
Proofline is a notebook of calculators. Every cell sends its inputs to one usefulweb.site tool — the equation solver, the graphing calculator, the statistics studio and ten more — and shows the answer below the inputs. Your notebook is saved automatically in this browser.
1. Open the workspace
Click Launch Proofline. The first time you see an empty notebook with a short Getting started hint and the template gallery. Nothing pops up in your way: press Got it when you have read the hint.

2. Add a cell
Click Add a cell (or press N) and choose Equation solver. A new cell appears with an example equation already filled in:
x^2 + 6x + 5 = 0
Change it to 2x^2 + 3x - 4 = 0 and pick Quadratic formula under Method for quadratics.
3. Run it
Press Run in the cell header or Ctrl + Enter. While the tool works the cell shows Running…; you can keep typing in other cells. When the answer arrives you see:
- one sentence with the result (the tool's own summary),
- key figures in small cards — here the type, the method, the solutions and whether they were verified,
- All result details with every step of the solution.
If something is wrong with the input, the cell explains it in a full sentence and highlights the field. Fix it and press Try again.
4. Pin what matters
Every key figure has a pin button. Pin Solution. Pinned figures are your findings.
5. Read the report
Switch to Report (or press 3). The findings dashboard shows the pinned solution, What the tools found lists the summary sentence of every cell, and Print or save as PDF turns the page into a clean report.
Next steps
- Open a template from Notebook → Templates… to see bigger workflows.
- Give the cell a title (field Cell title) — titles appear in the outline, the report and the exports.
